Professor Piotr Skubala – I Food Safety Forum

22 listopada 2022

On November 19, we organized the I Food Safety Forum of the Future Food 4 Climate coalition.
The event, held under the honorary patronage of the Mayor of the Capital City of Warsaw Rafal Trzaskowski, matronage/patronage of Krytyka Polityczna, Slaska Opinia, Ekowyborca, was attended by experts, media, activists and coalition partners.

In his opening speech, „Stop, Rebuild and Strengthen,” Prof. Dr. Piotr Skubala, University of Silesia in Katowice, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Institute of Biology, Biotechnology and Environmental Protection said:

„In order to have enough determination to build a desirable world, we must be able to imagine a future based on hope. Let’s dream for a moment and move to 2050:
In 2050, we remember Poland as a country where we stopped mining coal in 2030 and closed the last coal-fired power plant in 2035. We were the leaders of a just transition in Europe.
By 2050, the air is humid and crisp in most places on Earth, even in urban areas. We owe this to massive tree planting, the greening movement in all countries. In 2050, we buy food from small, local farms and local producers. Housing communities are forming food co-ops.
Food is growing everywhere – in community gardens, on rooftops, in schools, on balconies. Animal protein and dairy have almost disappeared from our diets.
Taking care of nature and animals has become as important to most people as taking care of themselves.
Let’s do our best to make people again delighted with the Earth, biodiversity, nature, love animals – elder brothers. Let’s make life, biodiversity, animals, plants start to be treated as the greatest and most appreciated treasure of mankind.”
