This week in Strasbourg, a parliamentary session of the European Parliament was held. With less than a year to go before the next EP elections, EU policymakers are clearly turning their backs on the ambitions of the European Green Deal. The food security resolution, the vote on the Nature Restoration Law (on which more work will be done on June 27), show that the largest faction of the European People’s Party has already begun its election campaign by betting on economic interests and an electorally „safe” status quo instead of decisive reform for the climate and the environment.
