The protagonist of the reportage ‘Dining on Despair’ is Dr. Sylwia Spurek, former Deputy Ombudsperson, Member of the European Parliament 2019-2024. In the film, Dr. Sylwia Spurek addresses the issue of animal agriculture, the lack of legislative solutions. In the report of the Plant Treaty and Green REV Institute titled. ‘Safe and Just’, Dr. Sylwia Spurek points out: ‘For the current food sector is primarily a animal agriculture that pollutes the environment, destroys biodiversity, causes climate change and deforestation, increases antibiotic resistance, causes food poverty and turns the lives of people living near animal farms into hell. And on top of that, it kills billions of sentient beings, something that as a vegan I cannot overlook. I often say that there is currently no bigger problem than animal farming. The climate, environmental, health and economic costs of operating this industry are enormous. And we all pay them.’
