EUforAnimals. Commissioner for Animal Health and Welfare
As the coordinator of #EUforAnimals in Poland, we are pleased to announce that the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Layen has identified a new position in the European Commission – Commissioner for Animal Health and Welfare. Green REV Institute is coordinating the #EUforAnimals campaign in Poland and together with our partners including GAIA and organisations such as L214, Essere Animali, Animal Equality, Animal Welfare Society, Eurogroup for Animals and others. We are very pleased that our voice has reached EU policy and decision makers. The President of the European Commission has identified a Hungarian politician – Olivér Várhelyi – as a Candidate for this position.
We now face hearings in the relevant committees of the European Parliament, followed by advocacy and watchdog work so that the protection of so-called farm animals is no longer treated as a niche.
