Food system debate in Krakow

February 24 this year. In the Name of Animals and WIO Krakow, member organizations Future Food 4 Climate organized the Krakow premiere of Dining on Despair with a discussion on activism for plate repair and animal rights, the health benefits of switching to plant-based diets, and the challenges and necessity of introducing vegan meals in educational institutions and the REV Plant School program.

The panel discussion included:
Ewa Wantuch – vegan, biologist, clinical nutritionist specializing in plant-based diets. She has received numerous national and international trainings mainly in the field of plant-based diets, diets in hormone-dependent diseases, neurological diseases and pediatric dietetics. On a daily basis, she mainly helps patients with thyroid diseases, metabolic syndrome and nutritional deficiencies. Her main interests include veganism and endocrine disorders.
Monika Konieczna – vegan, activist of Rescue Action for Krakow. Sister of River Wilga. Co-founder of the Coalition of Krakow Movements „Together for the City.” For several years she has supported and been involved in the activities of various initiatives to improve the lot of animals. As of 2019, she also contributes to initiatives focusing on nature conservation, climate protection and city-building activities.
Monika Kohut – vegan, animal abolitionist, activist, feminist. Actively works for the equality of all living beings. Organizer of numerous pro-animal events fighting against broadly defined exclusions. The motto of her activism is „Compassion without action is just observation. Don’t be an observer.”
Jakub Spryszynski – happy father for 4 years, vegan for about 10 years. Pro-animal activist, dog behaviorist. In his spare time, he is passionate about sports and all physical activities.
Joanna Hańderek – ecofeminist, vegan, philosopher specializing in the philosophy of culture, PhD in humanities, associate professor at Jagiellonian University, publicist, social and political activist.
