An online regional consultation for the European region on UNEA 6 was held on January 18, 2023.

The purpose of the consultation was to introduce the (new) Regional Facilitators, review the proposed UNEA 6 topic, discuss and agree on comments and proposals on the topic to be submitted to UNEP.

Morgan Janowicz, board member of the Green REV Institute, presented the demands and goals of Future Food 4 Climate. She stressed the need to include a just transformation of the food system. She pointed out how the war in Ukraine, the granary of Europe, has affected the economy, agriculture and food security.

Whichever option is chosen, it is important to ensure that a just transformation of the food system is part of a comprehensive strategy for the coming years, because there is no climate justice without food justice.

In each option of UNEA theme 6, we must take into account the ambition of a sustainable food system to shift responsibility to the industry and the system, in all of them we must speak out against industrial agriculture.
