Just food at UNEA-7

24 lutego 2025

The Green REV Institute has submitted its position to the Secretariat of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) as part of the consultation on the UNEA-7 Ministerial Declaration. In its statement, the REV emphasises the key role of the food system in the global biodiversity crisis and climate change, calling for the implementation of policies for a just and sustainable transition.

In the position statement it sent, the Green REV Institute points to the need to include five priority actions in the UNEA-7 Declaration: promoting a just and sustainable food system based on plant production; supporting green industrialisation and shortened supply chains to reduce environmental impact and increase food security; introducing regulations to limit destructive agricultural practices, especially those related to deforestation and ecosystem degradation; ensuring food security and protecting the health of consumers through education and policies that promote sustainable diets; and strengthening international cooperation for food security, especially in regions most vulnerable to climate crises. The Green REV Institute emphasises that UNEA-7 is a key moment for taking decisive action to protect people, animals and the planet.
