Last chance vote for Common Agricultural Policy

22 kwietnia 2024

The European Parliament is set to vote on changes to the Common Agricultural Policy , April 25, 2024, as part of the last plenary session of the 2019-2024 term. The changes and weakening of the Common Agricultural Policy’s provisions in the areas of climate protection, biodiversity, soil protection and natural resources are the result of the European Commission’s decision of March 15, 2024. The EU authorities, as part of the election campaign and to protect party interests in the next European campaign, decided to make far-reaching concessions to the agribusiness sector. Recall that as of September 2023. The European Commission, headed by President Ursula von der Leyen, resigned, among other things, from: a) a revision of legislation for the protection of farmed animals, b) a regulation for a sustainable food system, c) a regulation for limiting the use of pesticides, plant protection products, d) a revision of funding for meat and dairy promotion, e) changes to the EU School Scheme, e)a decision to end animal breeding for fur…. Postponing the green transition at a time of growing inequality in access to healthy food, climate catastrophe will have consequences for EU citizens, sustainable agriculture, and inaction will benefit the livestock sector and food corporations.

We have a chance to show MEPs that as EU citizens we want access to healthy food and deserve a fair Common Agricultural Policy. Therefore, we encourage you- send an email to MEPs and before the last plenary session, let’s show that we deserve healthy food!
