REV supports call for sustainable protein diversification

6 lutego 2025

The Green REV Institute, together with more than 80 civil society organisations from across Europe, has supported a letter calling for action towards a more sustainable and diverse protein production system in the European Union.

The call highlights the need for a transition towards diverse protein sources – plant, animal and novelty – as a key pillar of Europe’s future food system. The document indicates that a transition to sustainable protein sources will benefit farmers, improve food security, protect the environment and strengthen innovation in the European agri-food sector.

The signatories of the letter emphasise the need for political, financial and legislative support for farmers who want to implement practices that favour protein diversification. Key recommendations include facilitating access to finance, increasing investment in research and development and improving the food environment to make healthy and sustainable choices easier for the consumer side.
