Join us to work together to develop new solutions for access to healthy and local food for children and young people in Lodz – Citizen Brainstorm for School Gardens.

Date: 10 January 2024

Time: 12:00-15:00

Venue: The ‘Sources’ Action Centre

27 Zielona Street, 90-602 Łódź

Another local initiative within the nationwide series

Another Civic Brainstorming will take place today, 10 January (Friday), following the success of meetings in Gdańsk, Lublin and Poznań. This time we are meeting in Łódź to talk together about green spaces next to schools. Further events are planned in Międzyrzecz Podlaski, Skierdy and Radzyn, among others.

The event is organised by Zasiej and made possible thanks to the support of the Green REV Institute as part of the ‘Plant School’ initiative, as well as the Food Voices Coalition and Healthy Food Healthy Planet.

Why school gardens?

After-school gardens are spaces that link education, health and building social connections. They are crucial in providing access to healthy and local food, shaping healthy eating habits among young children and creating a space for collective action – connecting local communities around a common goal.

Programme of the event

  • Presentation of the concept of school gardens – how can green spaces provide children and young people with access to fresh, healthy food?
  • Joint brainstorming – sharing ideas, experiences and visions.
  • Discussion of challenges – how to deal with space constraints, funding and community engagement?
  • Vegan lunch – an example of how healthy food can be tasty and easily accessible, prepared locally.

Who is this event for?

We invite all who and which act believe in the right of children and young people to access healthy, sustainable and local food. The event is aimed at teachers, educators, parents, the activist side, representatives and representatives of local government and local communities, and anyone who wants to work towards a more sustainable food system.
