The end of meat promotion?

4 kwietnia 2024

Brussels Time: ” Dutch supermarket chain Jumbo will be the first in the Netherlands to stop fresh meat promotions. The chain wants to contribute to the transition to a more plant-based diet. This decision has been made following requests from animal welfare organisations and will apply to all in-store and online fresh beef, pork and chicken by the end of May. By 2025, the supermarket chain wants 50% of the protein products it sells to be of plant origin. By 2030, this figure should rise to 60%.”

Green REV Institute since 2023 has been analyzing the actions of the largest retail chains in Poland: Lidl, Kaufland, Dino, Żabka, Biedronka. Despite their green promises, they continue to prioritize low prices for meat and dairy, thus adding fuel to the climate crisis and ignoring facts regarding the impact of meat and dairy on human health. The „Meat us half way” report has not received any comments from these chains, which remain silent about their practices.
