We take the floor at the Sejm on the Mercosur agreement
Green REV Institute spoke on the Mercosur agreement at the Sub-Committee and Committee on Agriculture meetings.
On 17 and 18 December 2024, the Green REV Institute participated in two key meetings on the EU-Mercosur trade agreement:
17 December – Standing Sub-Committee on Livestock Welfare and the Protection of Livestock Production and the Control of Infectious Diseases of Animals, which discussed the potential impact of the entry into force of the European Union’s trade agreement with Mercosur countries.
18 December – Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI), dedicated to discussing the Mercosur Agreement and its consequences, which could lead to significant food quality in Poland.
During the meetings, we took the floor, drawing attention to the perspective of the rights of consumers. We highlighted that the Mercosur Agreement poses real threats to the availability of healthy, ethical and sustainable food. We drew attention to the impact of imports of cheap agri-food products with low environmental standards on the Polish market and the growing environmental and climate challenges.
